Clinical Supervision
For Licensed Professional Counseling
Clinical supervision is a key component of your development as a counselor. You have completed the coursework, you have gained experience in your practicum and internship, and you have passed your National Counseling Exam. This means you are ready to call yourself a counselor. How exciting! How nerve-racking! This is why you're required to be under supervision. Because while you know a great many things, many more are unknown.
I take supervision very seriously. I ask that you remain committed and sign a contract agreeing to payment, supervision hours, and basic rules ( I am allowing you to work under my license, after all ). We are entering into a professional agreement that will ensure your ability to apply to drop the "P" and become a Licensed Professional Counselor. While you sign your contract, I will also sign mine. I will make promises to you to be your teacher and your guide. I will promise to help you navigate sticky situations with as much ease and grace as we can muster. I will promise to be available to you outside of our regular supervision hours because a crisis never happens at the best time.
Supervision will be at least 50% individual, as requested by the State of Missouri, but it can also include group supervision as our schedules align. I think back to my group supervision hours, and even my current consultation team hours, and I am floored by the growth obtained by being in a room with so many different opinions, strengths, and points of view. This is the beauty of not only supervision, but our profession as a whole. We exchange ideas, we support one another, we are never alone and we are always learning and growing.
Take a look around my website, get an idea of the population I serve, and reach out if you're interested. I will happily answer any questions you may have.
Special note: Please keep in mind that I can only offer off-site supervision. My practice currently does not have the ability to add contractors, so your clinical hours will have to come from your place of employment. Your supervision itself, however, will occur in my office. Please see the Contact tab for my location.
